Description

Strauss J&J: Pizzicato Polka was composed in 1869 and is notable for being one of the few works that both Johann and Josef Strauss worked on together. The two brothers were incredibly close, both musically and personally, and their collaboration on this polka showcases the musical harmony between them. The polka was written for plucked (pizzicato) string orchestra and glockenspiel. The piece consists of four melodies and the work is arranged in ternary form (A-B-A). Strauss J&J: Pizzicato Polka is still a favourite in concert halls today all around the world. Arranged here for 2 flutes (divisi), alto flute (divisi) and bass flute. Therefore it is playable either by a flute choir or a quartet. Intermediate level.
