The polonaise ‘Farewell to the Fatherland’ (Pożegnanie OjczyznyLes adieux à la Patrie) is a composition for solo piano, commonly attributed to the Polish composer and politician Michal Kleofas Oginski (1767-1833). This piece was allegedly written around 1794, after the Kosciuszko Uprising, which the composer participated in. Farewell to the Fatherland is extremely popular and recognisable in Poland, Belarus and Russia.
