Description

Carl Maria von Weber’s Invitation to the Dance, Op. 65 (also known as Aufforderung zum Tanz), composed in 1819. It’s a charming and historically important piece—arguably the first concert waltz ever written. Originally written for solo piano and later orchestrated by Hector Berlioz. Rather than a dance intended to accompany actual ballroom movement, it’s a musical depiction of a waltz, meant to be listened to in a concert setting. This arrangement for flute choir if for 7 voices; piccolo, 4 flutes, alto and bass flutes. Intermediate to advanced level.
