Description
Bach: Arioso; arranged from Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto No. 5 in F minor, BWV 1056, is a popular and recognised piece of music. It was originally composed as a Violin or Oboe Concerto in G minor. Now sadly lost it was later reused in various forms, including the Sinfonia to Cantata BWV 156 in F major. A much embellished version was eventually used as the middle movement of Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto in F minor, BWV 1056, published in 1738. The Bach: Arioso is known for its melodic and emotional quality. It has been arranged here for a solo flute with flute quartet accompaniment consisting of two flutes, alto and a bass flute. The solo part requires an advanced standard whilst the accompaniment would be manageable buy most players.
